Why are you making this change?
Being independent lets us make decisions directly — the tools we use, the services we offer, how we run things — without going through another firm. In plain terms: it lets us serve you better and more directly.
What is an “RIA,” and what was “the umbrella”?
An RIA (Registered Investment Advisor) is the type of firm we are — a firm registered with regulators to give investment advice. Until now, our firm has operated under a larger firm, OneAscent Financial, that handled certain back-office processes for us. While they will still help us with specific back-office work, we will be on our own as Strategence Capital, registered directly with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).
Are you still my advisor? Is it the same team?
Yes. Same advisor, same team, same phone number and email, same approach to your plan. The name on the paperwork changes; the people you work with do not.
Will my fees go up?
No. Your advisory fee and how it’s calculated are not changing as a result of this move.
Do I have to move my accounts or open new ones at a different company?
No. Your accounts will stay right where they are now.
Will my account numbers or online login change?
Your custodian (e.g. Schwab) account numbers and login access stay the same.
What do I actually have to do?
We’ll ask you to sign an updated advisory agreement with Strategence Capital and some forms specific to the custodian. We’ll also send you our disclosure documents (called Form ADV) to review. That’s it — it takes just a few minutes, and we’ll send clear instructions.
What is “Form ADV”?
It’s a standard disclosure document that every registered advisor provides. It describes our services, fees, and how we operate. You don’t need to study it — it’s there for your transparency, and we’re happy to walk through anything in it.
What happens if I do nothing?
We’ll follow up with you personally, so nothing falls through the cracks. But to keep your account serviced by us without interruption, we do need your signed agreement, so please complete it when it arrives or let us know if you’d like help.
When does this happen?
Our registration has been approved by the SEC. We need to get some other things lined up, and then you’ll hear from us.
Who do I call if I’m confused or worried?
Call or email your advisor directly. If any part of this is unclear, that’s what we’re here for. There’s no such thing as a dumb question.
